My brand new/ old Gap @gap dress worn for the first time thanks to @litbrit – who found it for me on eBay and sent it to me! Talk about gratitude! By the way peeps, I was using “impoverished” ironically. Obviously, being actually poor – like we were when my single parent mom had two jobs and night school and I had to steal bread in the supermarket so my little brother and I could have dinner – is hardly my life any more. TBT. Less than two months ago, the world was still a familiar place. And I was basking in its best incarnation, here in Costa Rica. 💕 Humor me, if you will, today. I’m now 55, and I have gone through half a lifetime only liking the way I look in retrospect. I look at old photos and realize how good I had it. So today, I am looking at myself, (in an admittedly flattering photo) and think, “ hey, I m a good 55 year old! ” I will feel pretty today. And endlessly grateful for all the gifts life has bestowed on me thus far. They’ve been many. Quarantine is a great time to sift through them all. The times we are in feel surreal and have put everything into perspective. I’m using this time to appreciate the family time I get to enjoy with Justin and Issac. But we have to acknowledge that it’s a big adjustment to stay inside all day, so remember to also check in and take care of your mental health. Though the times are tough I choose to hold on to comfort given in the eternal command, “Fear not.” I have faith for the now and faith for the future. As we know faith without the necessary work behind it doesn’t mean much. I believe it’s important for us to remain positive, level-headed, calm, and to continue to support each other. It’s also important to take this seriously; if your job allows, socially distance yourself. Even if you’re young and healthy it’s up to all of us to do our part and protect others, especially the elderly and immunocompromised. I also want to shine a light on those who don’t have the option of staying home from work, those who are missing vital pay checks, and the children who are missing out on free or reduced lunches they depend on at school. Thank you to the healthcare workers who are working tirelessly and risking their own health to protect us all. We’re all in this together, so in the spirit of “love thy neighbor” let’s lead with love and kindness ❤️

Before there were mom jeans I was a working mom wearing jeans. Before I knew I was going to be a founder of a billion dollar brand in my name I just went to work. Before I ever knew what an indie makeup brand was I sold 10 lipsticks in wearable mixable colors out of my house with my husband. Before I knew what an investor was, my husband was it. My best and biggest advice to you entrepreneurs is to keep doing what you’re doing and be nimble enough to pivot and unafraid to try new things. And worrying and angst is normal so worry a little less. My best advise to working moms is to get organized, and be there for the important stuff. Schedule it. Try not to miss it.
